"ARE YOU LISTENING TO ME?"

Will you be part of our triumphant return to Roma for the premiere of "Preacher and Co"
with original musical score by Ennio Morricone? You probably don't remember the times when another
American actor, Henry Silva, and I would have our billboards lining the route into the city
from the airport. How soon the world forgets!

Hawk in "Hawk" - "GUNSMOKE"

In the years of the run of the granddaddy of all television westerns, " GUNSMOKE,"
the "HAWK" episode registered the highest rating in the series' history.
It was of such acclaim that full page ads were taken out in both trade papers,
" Variety" and the "Hollywood Reporter"
by C.B.S. and the Gunsmoke production company (controlled by James Arness)
thanking and congratulating actor Brendon Boone for this achievement.

That's just the way I remember it when C.B.S. introduced my 'Roman Bedford'
in RAWHIDE's "Duel At Daybreak"as a continuing character in the series.
As I recall the billboard was in New York City in Times Square.
I've often wondered whatever became of my two co-stars, Clint Eastwood and Charles Bronson.
I really thought they would have promising careers.

I remember this most vividly and thinking, where is Charles Bronson...?
I'm gonna have to take him out in spite of what Clint Eastwood might think!

MY PROMISE OF TOMORROW

One generation passes away -
Another comes to take its place -
But the earth abides forever, and.........
The sun also rises.

SONNY HONEYBUNS OF THE BOONES
Held by his groomer

Written on the eve of my son's (Norman Brendon Boone, III's) birth -

MY SON

Of all the joys that one's life can bring,
There's none can surpass just one glorious thing:
It's the joining of two, in love and as one -
Which blesses them with a loving daughter or son.
So wondrous a miracle commended to us,
Must surely be seen as God's ultimate trust -
A faith that in spite of man's feet of clay,
Knows there's a seed deep within that can purge him one day.
With all the weaknesses and frailties, the properties of flesh,
The spirit and soul with Him are enmeshed.
As for it is written - through Christ I'm with you,
He dwells among us this earthly life through -
'Til in its grand cycle we worthily complete;
And, rewarded in Heaven, we sit at His feet.
We reach for the stars, our quest never known,
But merely a glimpse of Him on His throne -
Reassures that the life He's brought us to sow -
Through our heirs, in Him, may continue to grow.
In His own true image, the Scriptures assure -
That's promise and more for man to endure -
The trials and errors of so brief a stay,
As we comfort in the hope that we live life His way.
So as we prepare for our blessed event,
We recount all our fortunes through this life thus spent -
And praise Thee, dear God, and offer our prayers, too -
That those whom we beget may share Eternity with You.

MY FATHER

GOD BLESSED ME EARLY IN LIFE -
BEFORE I COULD EVEN ACCOUNT.
I WAS BORN INTO HIS FAMILY -
WITH LOVE IN FULLEST AMOUNT.

SOON I RECOGNIZED MY BEGINNING
AND REFLECTED UPON MY FATE;
YET, SEEING THROUGH WISER EYES
CAUSED ME ADMIRATION TO TAKE.

I WAS THEN TO BE INSTRUCTED
THAT LIFE IS LIVED BY MERE MAN -
IN WHICH UNIQUE ARRANGEMENT
AS MUCH TOLERANCE IS NEEDED AS THERE' SAND.

BUT THEN AS MIND EXPANDED
ANOTHER SEED WAS SOWN -
INSTEAD OF MY NURTURING DESPAIR
HOPE IN ITS PLACE WAS GROWN.

WITH ALL THESE INSPIRATIONS
WHICH HAVE BEEN MINE TO SHARE,
THERE'S A PROMISE OF ALL ETERNITY
WHEN LIFE IS LIVED WITH CARE.

SO NOW MY PRAYER BECOMES
THAT AS I MOVE ALONG -
THIS REVERENCE THAT'S INSTILLED IN ME
IN OTHERS MAY TOO BELONG
